Uneasy to register TOEFL in China

It is the first day of to register TOEFL seats in 2008, in China, today. I have been costing an hour to open the main page of the official website of registering TOEFL seats in China, but I cannot see anything on the page since it is very busy on the server side.

Several days ago, the NEEA (National Education Examinations Authority, China) published a piece of news on the official registration and information of international examinations site, A notice of registering TOEFL 2008, telling the test takers the days of test taking in the new year, and the day, Dec 3rd, to open to register. So many test takers are visiting the web pages, wanting to get an appropriate day to take TOEFL, but it is not easy to open a page, I have wait more than an hour but not get an entire one. Therefore it is manual labor.

I think it is the goverment-leading test market, but not the market(needing)-leading test, so it is imbalance. Because of lacking seats, and a lot of test takers, many test takers cannot get a seat to take test. It is natural to rush to register a seat.

To solve the problem, there would be several methods:

  • to increase seats;
  • to open the days of testing to register seperately, instead of opening registration on a day;
  • to be preparing well, then to register, instead of spending excessive money, waste of seats.
