eTBLAST is a unique, great tool for searching literature collections, a text similarity-based engine, where MEDLINE, NASA, IOP (Institute of Physics), and CRISP (Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects, a database of federally funded biomedical research) are available. USPTO (US Patent & Trademark Office), PMC (PubMed Central), OMIM (Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man) and DrugBank are coming.
Unlike other academic search systems, for example, Engineering Village Index, Science Citation Index, you don’t use a few well chosen (hopefully) keywords, you can just paste in an entire sentence, paragraph or even abstract and eTBLAST will search and find papers which are similar to text you provide.
Researchers can use it to check their ongoing articles to see if whether there are similar literatures. Especially, eTBLAST is a good tool to investigate plagiarism, I think, if it is available for more extensive academic publishing systems.
