动力系统与非线性动力学

动力系统(Dynamical System)就是指按时间发展的系统。比如,一个物体在外力的和用下其运动状态随着时间的变化而发生改变,这样的系统就可以称之为动力系统,描述物体按时间运动的规律就是牛顿运动方程。再如,描述流体运动的 Navier-Stokes 方程也是一个动力系统。牛顿运动方程和 Navier-Stokes 方程描述的系统是按连续时间变化的,称为连续动力系统。一些按离散时间变化的系统就叫离散动力系统。事实上,连续动力系统的离散化就成了离散动力系统。
动力系统还可按不同的标准进行分类。以时间为标准可将动力系统分为连续动力系统和离散动力系统。以维数为标准可分为有限维动力系统和无限维动力系统,Navier-Stokes 方程就是无限维动力系统。
非线性动力学(Non-Linear Dynamics)是研究非线性动力系统的各种运动状态的定性和定量变化规律,即动力学特性,特别是系统的长时期行为。经典的非线性动力学是以摄动(或称为扰动)、渐近分析的方法研究弱非线性弱耦合的系统。而现代非线性动力学与经典非线性动力学不同,研究的是系统的定性和定量变化规律,其使用的方法是精确方法,所研究的系统具有强非线性,研究对象主要包含分叉(bifurcation)、混沌(chaos)、分形(fractal)、孤立子(soliton)等新的现象,其主要任务是探索非线性力学现象的复杂性。
